THE EFFECT OF A REALISTIC MATHEMATICS EDUCATION ON THE PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY OF MATHEMATICS

SUMMARY

This study aims to determine the positive effect of using the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) model on the learning outcomes of problem-solving math story problems for second-grade students of SDN 03 Pelang. The lack of students understanding of the issue of the story problems and imagining the problems in story questions is not optimal. The RME model will provide students with authentic experiences and opportunities to construct mathematical knowledge. The type of research conducted is experimental research. The design used in this study is quasi-experimental in the form of a nonequivalent control group design. The subjects in this study were second-grade students of SDN 03 Pelang. The data collection technique in this research is in the form of a test (description). While the data analysis techniques include analysis of instrument trials, prerequisite tests, and hypothesis testing. The results showed a significant effect of the RME learning model on the problem-solving ability of students' story problems between the experimental and control groups. So, the RME makes students actively participate in learning so that students' problem-solving skills are achieved optimally.

To validate the results obtained in the application of the didactic strategy for the improvement of the understanding of the mathematical contents in non-Spanish-speaking students of the preparatory course of the Latin American School of Medicine.Materials and methods: A descriptive observational study was carried out with non-Spanish-speaking students of the preparatory course and mathematics teachers from the 2016-17 academic year to December 2018. Theoretical, empirical and statistical methods were used to define concepts, operationalize and measure variables, summarize, characterize students and teachers according to indicators and assess the results. Results: A definition was obtained for the understanding of mathematical content and for its levels, an instrument for the initial diagnosis that measures mastery of mathematical content and levels of understanding, teaching tasks for different levels, an interactive glossary of terms and worksheets. work with voice, the WebMate department website, four discussion forums, updating of methodological documents, a didactic strategy with actions for teachers, students and group according to type of classes, instruments to evaluate the strategy in students and teachers. Participation in national and international events and 14 publications were made with the main results in impact reports and journalsand 7 teachers changed their teaching category.Key words: didactic strategy comprensin, content, mathematical comprension.
