Diagnóstico y prevalencia de las infecciones vaginales en el Hospital General de Huambo, Angola Diagnóstico y prevalencia de las infecciones vaginales en el Hospital General de Huambo, AngolaObjetivo: determinar la prevalencia de infecciones vaginales en mujeres con o sin síntomas ginecológicos queasistieron a la Consulta de Ginecología del Hospital General de Huambo.Método: estudio transversal descriptivo realizado desde noviembre de 2011 hasta mayo de 2012 en 493 exudadosvaginales obtenidos de 172 mujeres embarazadas sin síntomas y 321 no embarazadas, con síntomas ginecológicos.A todas se les tomó muestra de la secreción vaginal para la realización de examen microscópico directo con soluciónsalina, coloración de Gram y cultivo en agar Sabouraud. Con los métodos aplicados se midió pH, se realizó test deamina, observación de “células guía”, presencia de Trichomonas vaginalis, levaduras e hifas.Resultados: dentro del total de muestras procesadas (493), hubo 354 positivas (67,2 %) y 139 negativas (32,8%). En ambos grupos, predominó el diagnóstico de vaginosis bacteriana (79,8 %), seguida de las infecciones por T.vaginalis, diagnosticada en 110 mujeres (34,2%) y Candida spp. en 35 (20,3%).Conclusiones: este trabajo muestra una prevalencia de infección vaginal en mujeres embarazadas sintomáticas.Se demuestra la importancia de la confirmación diagnóstica mediante métodos sencillos de laboratorio.Palabras clave: infecciones vaginales; prevalencia; Gardnerella vaginalis; Candida albicans;Trichomonas vaginalis.ABSTRACTObjective: to determine the prevalence of vaginal infections in women with or without gynecological symptoms who attended the Gynecology Consultation of the General Hospital of Huambo.Method: cross-sectional descriptive study conducted from November 2011 to May 2012 on 493 vaginal exudatesobtained from 172 pregnant women without symptoms and 321 non-pregnant women, with gynecological symptoms. All were sampled for vaginal secretion for direct microscopic examination with saline solution, Gram stain and culture on Sabouraud agar. With the applied methods pH was measured, amine test, observation of “guide cells”, presence of Trichomonas vaginalis, yeast and hyphae were performed.Results: within the total of processed samples (493), there were 354 positive (67.2%) and 139 negative (32.8%). In both groups, the diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis (79.8%) predominated, followed by infections by T. vaginalis, diagnosed in 110 women (34.2%) and Candida spp. in 35 (20.3%).Conclusions: this work shows a prevalence of vaginal infection in symptomatic pregnant women. The importanceof diagnostic confirmation through simple laboratory methods is demonstrated.

Valoración del programa de la asignatura de Ginecología y Obstetricia / Gynecology and Obstetric discipline: syllabus assessmentValoración del programa de la asignatura de Ginecología y Obstetricia / Gynecology and Obstetric discipline: syllabus assessmentLa formación de recursos humanos ha sido un pilar fundamental en el sector de la salud, alcanzando su máxima expresión con el proceso de universalización de la enseñanza. Se enfrentan nuevos retos por lo que es necesario la transformación constante del proceso enseñanza aprendizaje en la carrera de medicina, específicamente la especialidad de ginecología y obstetricia, la cual no ha escapado a los cambios que se producen en el diseño curricular. Por lo que se propuso como objetivo valorar el programa actual de la asignatura ginecología y obstetricia, a partir del desarrollo a alcanzar por el profesional y las necesidades que este genera. Se observaron clases impartidas por profesores de la asignatura, entrevistas a profesores y estudiantes, y se realizó análisis de la base documental del programa de la asignatura. Llegando a consideraciones metodológicas que permitieron efectuar las transformaciones pertinentes que permitan cumplir los objetivos de la asignatura. Por lo que se concluye que el programa no está totalmente acorde con el desarrollo actual, pues, presenta limitaciones en cuanto a los componentes del proceso enseñanza aprendizaje, centradas en la carencia de la fundamentación del mismo y del enfoque sindrómico de las patologías puramente obstétricas.Palabras Clave: GINECOLOGÍA, OBSTETRICIA.ABSTRACTTraining of human resources is one of the most important mainstays in health sector, reaching its higher expression with the universalization of teaching. New challenges emerge, that is why the continuous transformation of the teaching-learning process in medical studies is necessary, particularly in the specialty of gynecology and obstetrics which has not escaped from the changes carried out on the curricular design. The objective was: to assess the current syllabus of the discipline from the development reached by the professional and the needs created. Observation of lectures taught by the professors of the discipline and interviews to professors and students were considered. A documentary analysis of the syllabus to obtain methodological considerations which allowed making the pertinent transformations in order to fulfill the objectives of the discipline was conducted. Concluding that, the syllabus is not in correspondence with the current development, because it presents limitations regarding teaching-learning processes, centered on the lack of basis and the syndromic approach of the purely obstetric pathologies.Key words: Gynecology, Obstetrics.

A case ReportSe presentó una paciente en edad pediátrica con antecedentes de salud anterior, con dolor abdominal de varios días de evolución, vómitos y fiebre elevada. Al examen físico nos encontramos un abdomen ligeramente distendido fundamentalmente en hipogastrio, doloroso a los golpes de tos, a la palpación se encuentra una marcada reacción peritoneal, diagnosticándose cuadro de abdomen agudo por cuadro peritoneal, se le realizó laparotomía exploradora de urgencia con diagnostico presuntivo de Apendicitis Aguda Perforada, se comprobó la presencia de una malformación ginecológica consistente en 2 úteros separados y una duplicación vaginal, se corrigió anomalía vaginal, la paciente fue dada de alta y después de un ciclo menstrual se evaluó evolucionando satisfactoriamente y sin complicaciones. At physical examination, we found a slightly distended abdomen mainly in the hypogastric region painful when coughing. At palpation a significant peritoneal reaction is seen, diagnosing acute abdomen picture for peritoneal picture, an urgent exploring laparotomy was performed with presumptive diagnosis of perforated acute appendicitis, it was documented the presence of gynecological malformation consistent in two separate uteri and a vaginal duplication, the vaginal abnormality was corrected, the patient was discharged from hospital and after a menstrual cycle she was evaluated evolving adequately and uneventfully.DeCS: ABNORMALITIES, PERITONITIS, PELVIS, GYNECOLOGY.
