FORMATION AND ASSESSMENT OF IT-COMPETENCE IN THE UNITED KINGDOM SCHOOLS: EDUCATIONAL REFORM

SUMMARY

The article analyzes the international documents of the European Union and the United Kingdom government educational documents that have influenced to conduct the educational reform in the United Kingdom. It is defined the reasons that caused the introduction into the National Curriculum a new subject Computing instead of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). It is noted that the determination of priorities in the reform process is affected by business structures of the country, which form the current and future labor market. The approaches to the assessment of IT-competence within the frame of the UK education system reform are considered.
