A Multi-Cloud Environment for Relational Database Services: Design and Prototyping

SUMMARY

In recent years, cloud computing has emerged as a rapidly growing and disruptive technology in both academic research and industry. In this poster, we first describe cloud computing architecture and cloud computing applications. Then we discuss potential issues and considerations regarding to reliability, availability and affordability that comes along with cloud computing.   With this background, we then present our design of a multi-cloud environment that could potentially deliver a highly reliable and highly available cloud computing environment. The multi-cloud environment may also help reduce cost of cloud usage. We finally describe the implementation of a multi-cloud prototype for cloud-based relational database services.
