SUMMARY
Emerged in nineteenth century, social work is a profession with the aim of enhancing wellbeing of individuals, families, groups and communities; helping to meet their social functioning, and to empower their bonds with other systems. Professionals are very important part of the profession to achieve its end. Social workers, as rofessionals, acquire their authorization from law and regulations, and perform their duties within official policies. Responsibilities and performances of professionals during intervention are important for the profession to achieve its aims. However, professionals experience various difficulties both individually and publicly from the clients. These difficulties affect their performances, and cause them to avoid taking responsibility. However, most professionals have developed various methods to cope with these difficulties. In this study, qualitative research method, which is widely used in social sciences was used to examine difficulties the professionals experience, and their coping strategies. In this study, twelve social workers of Rize Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Policies were interviewed. Data was collected through individual interview and focus group discussion.Collected data was analyzed through descriptive analysis. Findings related to difficulties social workers experience were discussed thorugh ready-prepared themes. In the end, it is found out that social workers have developed coping strategies against challenges they face during their professional practice. Sosyal hizmet meslegi baglaminda belirtilen bu hedeflerin gerçeklestirilmesinde meslek elemanlari çok önemli bir yere sahiptir. Meslek elemanlari olarak sosyal çalismacilar uygulamalarini yasa ve mevzuatlardan yetki alarak resmi politikalar çerçevesinde gerçeklestirmektedirler. Meslek elemanlarinin uygulamalar sirasinda aldiklari sorumluluklar ve gösterdikleri performanslar, sosyal hizmetin hedeflerine ulasilmasi açisindan büyük önem tasimaktadir. Ancak, meslek elemanlari uygulamalari sirasinda hem bireysel hem kamusal hem de müracaatçilardan kaynaklanan çesitli zorluklarla karsilasmaktadirlar. Bu zorluklar da onlarin performanslarini etkilemekte ve sorumluluk almaktan kaçinmalarina neden olmaktadir. Diger taraftan, meslek elemanlarinin çogu bu zorluklarla bas etmek için çesitli yöntemler gelistirmektedir. Bu çalismada sosyal bilimler alaninda yaygin olarak kullanilan nitel arastirma yöntemlerinden durum çalismasi deseni kullanilarak meslek elemanlarinin karsilastiklari zorluklar ve basa çikma yollari arastirilmistir. Arastirma kapsaminda Rize Aile ve Sosyal Politikalar Il Müdürlügü’nde görev yapan 12 sosyal çalismaci ile görüsme yapilmistir. Veriler derinlemesine bireysel görüsme ve odak grup görüsmesi teknikleriyle toplanmistir. Elde edilen veriler betimsel analiz yapilarak yorumlanmistir. Önceden belirlenen temalar üzerinden de sosyal çalismacilarin karsilastiklari zorluklar ile ilgili bulgular paylasilmistir. Arastirmanin sonucunda sosyal çalismacilarin mesleki uygulamalari sirasinda karsilastiklari zorluklar karsisinda çesitli basa çikma yollari gelistirdikleri tespit edilmistir. Bu sorunlarin bireysel, fiziki ve çevresel sorunlar olmak üzere 3 baslik atinda toplanmasi mümkündür.
