PENGARUH NITROCARBURIZING DC-PLASMA TEMPERATUR (550-700)OC TERHADAP PERUBAHAN KEKERASAN PERMUKAAN DAN MIKROSTRUKTUR PADA BAHAN SUS 304

SUMMARY

ABSTRACT Influence of nitrocarburizing DC Plasma to hardness and microstructure change on SUS 304 material apparatus.  Some samples were nitrocarburized at temperature (550-700) 0C for 1 hour. The results shows that the hardness untreated sample of SUS 304 material was 260,718 Kgf/mm2, after the sample nitrocarburized at temperature 700 0C for 1 hour, the hardness increasing to be 279,88 Kgf/mm2, furthermore maximum depth of carbon and nitrogen atoms that difused in SUS 304 material was 3,4 micrometer.  Microstructure observation shows that the sample after nitrocarburized at temperature 700 0C for 1 hour to be seen very clear that there are layer of N and C atoms in SUS304 material.  Un-treated sample has matrixes ?-phase, d-ferrite, and twinning transformation. Samples that nitrocarburized at T > 5500C have matrixes ?-phase, d-ferrite, s-phase, carbide, and twinning transformation. Keywords : Nitrocarburizing, DC plasma, SUS304, hardness, and  microstructure.
