Attitudes Toward Lesbians and Gays (ATLG) scale in Mexico 1. Factor structure and internal consistency

SUMMARY

The aims of this paper were to calculate the internal consistency of the Attitudes Toward Lesbians and Gays (ATLG) scale and its factors, to determine the factor structure and to contrast its invariance by gender. An incidental sample of 356 students was collected. The 20 items were consistent (a = .94). It was defined an attitude toward the lesbians factor (.91) and two attitude toward the gays factors, one of open rejection (.85) and other of subtle rejection (.78). This structure of correlated 3-factors had an adequate data fit and resulted stable between men and women. We recommend its use in Mexico.
