Aspectos epidemiológicos del mieloma múltiple. Epidemiological features of multiple myelomaAspectos epidemiológicos del mieloma múltiple. Epidemiological features of multiple myelomaSe realizó un estudio donde se determinó el comportamiento epidemiológico del mieloma múltiple en nuestra provincia durante los últimos 11 años. Se observó mayor incidencia de la enfermedad en la raza blanca y en el sexo masculino. Los trabajadores más afectados fueron los agricultores, siendo los municipios de mayor prevalencia de la enfermedad San Luis, Los Palacios y Mantua. Los síntomas de mayor frecuencia al debutar la enfermedad fueron la anemia y los dolores óseos. La mayor incidencia de la enfermedad se observó en el año 1992, siendo la misma de 2.0 * 100 000 habitantes. DeCS: MIELOMA MÚLTIPLE/ Incidencia, EPIDEMIOLÓGIA, ANEMIA.ABSTRACT A study was carried out in order to determine teh epidemilogic behaviuor of multiple myeloma in our Province of Pinar del Río, Cuba, during tha last 11 years. A higher incidenceof the disease was observed in the white race and the masculine sex. The most affected workers were farmers, with the higher prevalence municipalities San Luis, Los Palacios and Mantua.The most frequent symptoms at the beginning of the disease were anemia and bone pains. The higher incidence of the disease was seen in 1992: 2,0 * 100 000 inhabitants. DeCS: MULTIPLE MYELOMA/ Incidence, EPIDEMIOLOGY, ANEMIA.
