Introduction: Researchers have been interested in the relationship between sella turcica bridging and various dental anomalies. This study investigates the association of sella turcica bridging and morphologic characteristics with the palatally impac... see more

Sella turcica is an anatomic point in the cephalometric tracing of orthodontic treatment. The formula for body mass index (BMI) is calculated by using the height and weight of an individual. Objective: To evaluate the size and morphology of the sella turc... see more

Introduction: Sellar changes are associated with several dentofacial anomalies. Clinicians should be aware of different morphological varaiants of sella turcica (ST).Objective: To find the prevalence of sella turcica bridging and to analyze the absence or... see more

Aim: The present study was undertaken to identify the role of radio-morphometric analysis of sella turcica in sex determination. Material and Methods: A total of 260 good quality lateral cephalograms (130 males and 130 females) were randomly selected from... see more

AbstractA sellar spine is a rare osseous projection from the dorsum sellae, resulting in variable compression of sellar and suprasellar structures and varied clinical presentations. CT is the diagnostic modality of choice, while variable signal intensity ... see more

Introduction: We frequently come upon cases of posterior scleritis with secondary angle closure glaucoma. However, it can pose a diagnostic dilemma in a patient with bilateral disc edema along with unilateral angle closure glaucoma due to posterior scleri... see more

Estudio clínico y radiológico de pacientes con neurofibromatosis tipo 1, Pinar del Río, 2006 / A clinical and radiological study in patients suffering from type 1 neurofibromatosis. A clinical and radiological study in patients suffering from type 1 neurofibromatosis. Palabras clave: NEUROFIBROMATOSIS, DEGENERACIÓN ABSTRACT Type 1 Neurofibromatosis (NF1) is one of the most common autosomal and dominant diseases and is produced by defects in the NF1-gen located in 17q11.2 chromosome. A descriptive and transversal study was carried out in patients with NF1 in Pinar del Río during the year 2005, aimed at describing the brain clinical and radiological characteristics of this entity, selecting 42 patients suffering from NF1 associated with dimorphism, mental retardation, malignant degeneration, plexiform neurofibromas and masses of the CNS, predominating the milk-coffee colour spots, the inguinal and axillary freckles and Lisch's node, being frequent acromegaly, the mental retardation and the decrease in visual acuity; the increase of sella turcica was one of the most relevant radiological finding. The total of the predominant clinical characteristics in the study are diagnostic criteria of NF1. The radiological findings are a principal tool for diagnosis, predominating in those cases from a new mutation. Key words: Neurofibromatosis, degeneration
