SUMMARY
Gelling agent is the main ingredient in gel manufacture. The gel preparation that is widely used by the community is the hand saitizer gel, where the hand sanitizer gel is a preparation that can clean hands from bacteria. One of the gelling agents that is widely used is carbopol 940. The development of carbopol 940 which can be relied on by the ionization process so that TEA is needed as a pH stabilizer. The purpose of this study was to measure the appropriate concentration of carbopol 940 and TEA so that the evaluation of the dosage was good. The method used is an experimental method. The 940 carbopol concentrations used were 0.3 grams, 0.4 grams, and 0.5 grams, while the TEA concentrations were 0.4 grams, 0.6 grams, and 0.8 grams. The results showed that all formulas were in accordance with the evaluation requirements including the organoleptic test, pH test, viscosity test, spreadability test, and adhesion test. However, of the three formulas, the evaluation results of the preparations that match the hand sanitizer gel on the market are formula 3 with a carobopol 940 concentration of 0.5 grams and a TEA of 0.8 grams. It can be denied that formula 3 with a carbopol concentration of 940 0.5 gran and TEA 0.8 grams includes a hand sanitizing gel preparation that is suitable for the products entered in the market.
