SUMMARY
Average Spatialization of rainfall in the city of Recife and evaluation of intense rain episodes using geostatistics AbstractThe variability of rainfall is one of the main climatic characteristics of the tropics, both spatially and temporally. Based on this assumption, the rainfall regime exerts a great deal of influence on meteorological variables such as humidity, temperature, radiation balance and others, moreover, it is responsible for characterizing landscape morphologies, which will change depending on the occurrence of rainfall. In urban environments, however, land use and occupation combined with extreme events that occur with a certain constancy give rise to problems arising from these cyclical atmospheric phenomena, revealing socio-environmental vulnerabilities. For this reason, the spatial and temporal variability of rainfall at the municipal scale of Recife represents a challenge from the point of view of urban planning. Given the above, this work evidenced the existing rainfall pattern in the intra-urban space of the Recife metropolis through geostatistical interpolation methods, thus identifying critical thresholds that are capable of generating socio-spatial disorders related to the dynamics of intense rainfall.
