SUMMARY
The paper describes the role of the chemical experiment and its didactical functions during professional training of chemistry teachers in high education institutions. All didactic functions considered in the paper (information function, heuristic function, measuring function, correcting function, research function, summarizing function, cognitive function) is shown to be in close connections with each other. Application of these didactic functions during chemical experiment ensures good results in training students. Functions considered provide not only an understanding of an experiment, but also contribute to the awakening interest in learning chemistry. Formulation of hypotheses by students improves cognitive abilities and the ability to apply knowledge. Application of these didactic functions by chemistry teacher improves his or her skill level.
