SUMMARY
Ruptura. Memória. ABSTRACT: This work aims to analyze how tradition and its rupture are characterized under the links of André's memory in the novel Lavoura Arcaica (1975), by Raduan Nassar. In this work, memory is present from the beginning to the end; through it the opposite sides (tradition and modernity) in the plot of the novel are revealed; we also highlight that, by recalling the grandfather's generation, certain customs, norms and values that characterize the basis of the family structure are highlighted; elements that, in turn, are devalued by André. For the development of this work, which is configured in the bibliographic research methodology, we will use, among others, the theoretical notes of Maurice Halbwachs (1900), and Michael Pollak (1989), which provide subsidies that memory has elements that reinforce or deconstruct facts from previous seasons; in addition to these, with regard to aspects for the analysis of the novel, we bring the contributions of Anatol Rosenfeld (1973) and Norman Friedman (2002). Thus, from this study, we could see that memory contributes to and for the formation of the history of society, especially because it is able to relate past, present and future. The memory, therefore, fosters that for each one denotes significant charges. Keywords: Archaic Tillage. Tradition. Break. Memory.
