SUMMARY
Em Os anos 40 (1973), a escritora Rachel Jardim utiliza fragmentos derecordações para iluminar passagens de sua mocidade. Tais registros de memória, organizados em pequenos capítulos, trazem ao leitor episódios pertinentes a indivíduos que, de alguma forma, estabelecem uma relação com Rachel Jardim. Entre amigos e familiares, destacam-se figuras femininas não só por sua presença constante, como também pelas diferentes maneiras como lidam com questões individuais e sociais. Este artigo objetiva verificar de que forma a autora aborda o cotidiano das mulheres de classe média da sociedade juizforana da década de 40 do século XX e, conseqüentemente,analisar o modo como são construídas tais imagens femininas.RACHEL JARDIM AND HER MEMORIALISTIC WRITING: THE CONSTRUCTION OF FEMALE IMAGESIn Os anos 40 (1973), the writer Raquel Jardim uses fragments ofrecollections in order to illuminate passages of her youth. Such a memory registrations, organized in short chapters, brings to the reader episodes which belong to individuals who establish a relationship with Rachel Jardim to some extent. Female figures are highlighted among friends and relatives not only due to their constant presence, but also because of thedifferent ways in which they deal with individual and social issues. This article aims at verifying how Rachel Jardim approaches the middle-class women’s everyday in the society of 1940s’ Juiz de Fora. Consequently, it intends to analyze how such female images are constructed.
