SUMMARY
Film consumption has evolved along with contemporary societies, connecting cultural, economical practices aestehetical discourses along with communicative habitus. To research about the way film consumption has changed as a result of the emerging interaction between public and the new technologies such DVD, Digital TV, Digital Theaters, Internet, and even McLane, A. y E. ISSN 2007 - 0705. pp: 144 - 156 - 146 - movies downloaded from non official websites in weeks before commercial releasing, is the main focus of this project.Overall, the main goal is to create a general scope of every aspect of film´s role in Leon as the social and symbolic configurator that cinema seem to embody and how the public adopt and reacts to it in a cultural way. The project also pretends to build a matrix of data as a way to allow broader interpretations about film consumption. The paper shows advances in a one year long project, from September 2005 to September 2006 carried out at the University De La Salle, which aim is to provide and built recent data base towards film comsuption´s patterns in Leon, Mexico.
