Se realizó un estudio del tipo de intervención educativa en la Comuna de Morón, Departamento de la Grand´Anse, República de Haití durante el período de enero a noviembre del 2006, con el objetivo de modificar y ampliar los conocimientos que poseen las personas de esta comunidad en relación con la fiebre tifoidea. De un universo de 523 jóvenes entre 15 y 35 años de edad se utilizó una muestra de 50 jóvenes mediante muestreo simple aleatorio, lo que representó el 9.56 por ciento del total. Para la obtención del dato primario, se aplicó un cuestionario antes y después del programa educativo, en el que se recogieron aspectos referentes al conocimiento teórico. El procesamiento estadístico utilizó el análisis de variables cualitativas, utilizando como medida de resumen la frecuencia relativa porcentual. Predominó el grupo de 20-25 años, así como el nivel secundario de escolaridad. Al finalizar el estudio la totalidad de los jóvenes reconoció la importancia de la asistencia al área de salud ante la presencia de síntomas de la enfermedad y demostraron conocimientos generales satisfactorios con respecto al tema. The mentor's role in the professionalizing internshipEtimológicamente, tutor significa maestro, amigo, guía, acompañante, defensor, protector, guardián, director, y sostén proviene del latín "tutor-tutoris". Se realiza un estudio participativo, sobre la necesidad de la Enseñanza Tutorial en los internos profesionalizantes de la carrera de Medicina, durante su rotación por el modulo de Pediatría, en el Hospital Pediátrico Pepe Portilla de Pinar del Río, con el objetivo de elevar la calidad de la educación sanitaria, la atención a la niñez, a los adolescentes y jóvenes, del trabajo social, mediante la enseñanza tutorial a los internos profesionalizantes. Se empleó el método de ranqueo para el diagnóstico de los problemas y mediante la matriz DAFO se elaboró un plan de acción para solucionarlos, designando a un grupo reducido de profesores en estrecha relación con los alumnos, para orientarlos de acuerdo a sus diferencias y así poder elevar su aprovechamiento docente y sus valores. Los resultados se lograron con calificaciones excelentes, además de una actitud social consecuente con los valores que se espera en el médico del presente. Arribamos a la conclusión que en estos momentos el tutor tiene importancia relevante en la formación del profesional de nuevo tipo que requiere la humanidad, y además, los programas deben responder a este modelo Palabras clave: Tutoría, Rol Profesional, Internado y Residencia. ABSTRACT Etymologically, tutor means teacher, friend, leader, companion, advocator, protector, guardian, director, support; it comes from the Latin word "tutor-tutoris". A participative study on the need for the Tutorial Teaching in Professionalizing Interns in Medicine major was carried out, during their rotation in Pediatrics, at Pepe Portilla Pediatric Hospital in Pinar del Rio, aimed at increasing the quality of the sanitary education, the assistance to the child, teenagers, and young people, of the social work, through the tutorial teaching to professionalizing interns. The ranking method was used for the diagnosis of problems and through the DAFO matrix an action plan was designed to solve them, assigning a small group of professors closely related to the students to guide them, considering their differences and thus being able to increase their level of knowledge and values. The results were achieved with excellent qualifications, in addition to a consistent social attitude with the values the medical doctors are expected to have at present. We drew to the conclusion that, at present, tutors are extremely important in the formation of new-type professionals required by humanity, and in addition, programs must respond to this model.
