The Perception of Stress and work Overload of Nursing Professionals in Psychiatric

SUMMARY

 is is a descriptive study of quantitative method and cross-sectional design in order to evaluate the perception of stress in nurses that work with psychiatric patients and identify factors that could lead to labor overhead in these professionals. e study was conducted in a public psychiatric hospital of Porto Alegre with 70 participants, among Nurses and Technicians. e instruments that were used for this research included the stress-Perception Scale 10, Rating Scale Professionals overload in Mental Health Services IMPACT-BR, short form and Socio-Demographic Data Questionnaire and Labor. e results show that the professionals have low perception occupational stress in daily work with the psychiatric patient. It was also determined low level in the three dimensions that make up the overhead: physical health, impact work on the functioning of sta and overhead related to repercussions emotional work. It was discussed about the possibility of labor stressors be present in other dimensions of the employ- ment relationship, such as the organizational context, which may be used for further research.
