Application of Artificial Neural Networks in Vehicles’ Design Self-Diagnostic Systems for Safety Reasons

SUMMARY

The article examines an approach to increasing the safety of a vehicle's design with the help of artificial neural networks (ANNs) integrated in the vehicle's self-diagnostic system. Solving this problem will require the vehicle's self-diagnostic system to be provided with a database with numerous states so that each information parameter can be assessed in terms of its impact on the probability of transition of the vehicle into some state. ANNs will help to correct the values of self-diagnostic output signals for prompt maintenance and current repairs as well as safe operation of the vehicle.

ABSTRACT A study was made in 40 patients who needed multiple mandible extractions. The patients who were cared at the Maxilofacial Surgery Service of Abel Santamaria Surgical Clinical Teaching Hospital in the period from October 4th 1999 to April 28, 2000 aimed at evaluating the postoperative evolution found in the cases with the implants of Hidroxiapatite post-extraction taking care of the presence of edema, pain dehiscence of the wound, infection, exposure to the material and radiographic behavior between the bone tissue and Hidroxiapatite (osteointegration). Results are shown and analyzed establishing comparisons with previous studies. A favorable postoperative evolution was found in the operated patients without evidence of sepsis, with moderate edema and light pain inside the limits of the surgical evolution, there were neither adverse nor general reactions face the situation of the biomaterial in the alveoli postextraction, there was a radiographic observation of a close union between the bone and Hidroxiapatite (positive osteointegration), with a high biocompatibility of the implant and its effective use in the prevention of the alveolar reabsorption. DeCS: HIDROXIAPATITES/use, ARTIFICIAL IMPLANT/method, BIOCOMPATIBLE MATERIALS, BONE REABSORPTION/surgery/prevention and control.
