AIDS IN SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA:BETWEEN DENIAL AND TRUTH TELLING

SUMMARY

The article tells the story of how interorganizational relations in Sub-SaharanAfrica started to develop and how it came to focus on the HIV/AIDS1 scourge. TheNetwork for African Congregational Theology’s mission is quoted verbatim. Adiscussion of the principles for interorganizational relations in a Third-Worldcontext follows. A priority for the Network seems to be the facing of the HIV/AIDSdenial problem, which can be successfully dealt with only if a hermeneuticallysensitive multidisciplinary interorganizational approach is followed. Reasons whypeople on the ground deny and seemingly ignore the awful reality of HIV/AIDS aregiven and the cultivation of a new culture of truth telling to face the scourge isargued.
