Use of Social Media in Uncovering Information Services for People with Disabilities in China

SUMMARY

The tangible and intangible needs of people with disabilities have been neglected in research agendas over the past decades, particularly in China. Bringing more benefits to people with disabilities and combining information delivery with Internet technology to improve their quality of life is impossible if their special needs are ignored. This study employed the crowdsourcing through social media method to investigate information needs of people who are disabled. The results indicate that using the popular social media platforms WeChat and QQ can be an effective means of reaching out to this group. Information needs can be mainly divided into internal and external needs. Leisure, tourism, and entertainment as well as assistive devices are major internal information needs, whereas work, entrepreneurship, and living services are the main external information needs.

La comprensión de textos desde las relaciones interdisciplinarias / The text comprehension from the interdisciplinary relationships La comprensión de textos desde las relaciones interdisciplinarias / The text comprehension from the interdisciplinary relationshipsObjetivo: socializar un sistema de actividades que contribuya al desarrollo de la comprensión de textos desde las relaciones interdisciplinarias en la asignatura de español.Materiales y métodos: en la investigación se utilizaron métodos teóricos, empíricos y matemático-estadísticos que permitieron detectar insuficiencias en el desarrollo de la comprensión de textos, sistematizar los referentes teóricos relacionados con el objeto de estudio y diseñar el sistema de actividades para la comprensión de textos desde las relaciones interdisciplinarias en la asignatura español. Resultados: un sistema de actividades que se caracteriza por ser dinámico y flexible, interdisciplinario, procedimental, reflexivo, educativo e instructivo que favorece el desarrollo de hábitos y habilidades, trabaja con diferentes tipos de textos mediante un sistema de procedimientos y métodos que permitan desarrollar una actitud activa y consciente del estudiante ante el aprendizaje.Conclusiones: el sistema de acciones para la comprensión de textos desde las relaciones interdisciplinarias basado en el trabajo con los diferentes tipos de textos de las disímiles materias es una vía para la asimilación de nuevos conocimientos y estimula el aprendizaje para actuar de manera independiente y planificada ante circunstancias más complejas, al tiempo que modelan la actuación del estudiante.Palabras clave: comprensión de textos; aprendizaje; relaciones interdisciplinarias.ABSTRACT Objective: to socialize the activities that contribute to the development of text comprehension from the interdisciplinary relationships in the Spanish subject.Materials and methods: theorical, empirical and mathematical methods were used in the investigation that allowed to detect insufficiencies in the development of text comprehension, to systematize the theorical regarding related to the study objective and to design the system of activities for text comprehension from the interdisciplinary relationships in the Spanish subject. Results: a system of activities that is characterized by be dynamical and flexible, interdisciplinary, proceeding, reflexive, educative and instructive that patronize the development of habits and abilities, work with different type of texts throughout a proceeding system that allow to develop an active  and conscious aptitude of the student for the learning.Conclusions: the actions system for the text comprehension from the interdisciplinary relationships based on the work with the different type of texts of the dissimilar materials is a way for the assimilation of new knowledges and  stimulates the learning to perform of independent and planned way in more complicated circumstances, at the time that modeling the student´s performance. La formación académica en salud reflejada en los egresados de la ELAM y su vínculo con la teoría Educación Avanzada / The academic education in health reflected in the graduates of the ELAM and its link with the Advanced Education theory La formación académica en salud reflejada en los egresados de la ELAM y su vínculo con la teoría Educación Avanzada / The academic education in health reflected in the graduates of the ELAM and its link with the Advanced Education theoryObjetivo: argumentar sobre la formación académica en salud reflejada en los egresados de la ELAM y su vínculo con la teoría Educación Avanzada.Método: se realizó un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal, se utilizaron los métodos: histórico-lógico, el análisisdocumental, la sistematización y el sistémico estructural funcional.Resultados: la formación de recursos humanos se basa en la vinculación de la teoría con la práctica, que se concretaen la combinación del estudio y el trabajo, la unidad de lo concreto y lo abstracto, así como la vinculación de lo individual con lo colectivo. Esta investigación se fundamenta en el sistema de categorías, leyes y principios de la teoría de la Educación Avanzada. Se puede constatar la preparación académica y disposición de los egresados ELAM para intervenir en situaciones de desastres, repercutiendo en el impacto social que genera en toda una comunidad.Conclusiones: la formación de recursos humanos es una contribución de Cuba a un mundo de paz y para la sostenibilidad de los sistemas de salud en los diferentes países con sentido de cooperación e integración de los pueblos y sus gobiernos. Palabras clave: formación; salud, ELAM; teoría Educación Avanzada.ABSTRACTObjective: to argue about the academic education in health reflected in the graduates of the ELAM and its link with the Advanced Education theory.Method: a descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out, the methods were used: historical-logical, documentary analysis, systematization and functional structural systemic.Results: the training of human resources is based on the linking of theory with practice, which is concreted in the combination of study and work, the unity of the concrete and the abstract, as well as the linking of the individual with the collective. This research is based on the system of categories, laws and principles of the theory of Advanced Education. The academic preparation and willingness of ELAM graduates to intervene in disaster situations can be verified, impacting on the social impact that it generates in a whole community.Conclusions: the training of human resources is a contribution of Cuba to a world of peace and for the sustainability of health systems in different countries with a sense of cooperation and integration of peoples and their governments.Keywords: training; health, ELAM; Advanced Education theory.

El Taller de apreciación y creación sobre el baile popular cubano “Casino” para los estudiantes de la Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina El Taller de apreciación y creación sobre el baile popular cubano “Casino” para los estudiantes de la Escuela Latinoamericana de MedicinaObjetivo: fundamentar la práctica del baile popular “Casino” en los estudiantes de la Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina a través de un taller artístico de apreciación y creación desde la extensión universitaria para el mejoramiento de su calidad de vida y formación cultural.Métodos: se utilizaron métodos teóricos y empíricos, además la observación que permitió valorar las condiciones reales que presentan los estudiantes respecto a la promoción de la Cultura Musical Danzaria cubana en la escuela. Se aplicaron entrevistas a dirigentes y encuestas a estudiantes.Resultados: se aprecian a través de la participación de estos estudiantes en diferentes actividades culturales,aplicando la creación, la ejercitación física, el buen mantenimiento de la salud, la apropiación de conocimientos, de arte, de cultura cubana y de tradición.Conclusiones: el taller de baile Casino permite además actuar en la interrelación social, la proporción deconocimientos, y el desarrollo de aptitudes y habilidades artísticas influyendo en el perfeccionamiento y mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de los estudiantes, la formación de sus personalidades y el enriquecimiento de sus valores.ABSTRACTObjective: to base the practice of popular dance “Casino” on the students of the Latin American School of Medicine through an artistic workshop of appreciation and creation from the university extension for the improvement of their quality of life and cultural formation.Methods: theoretical and empirical methods were used, as well as the observation that allowed to assess the real conditions presented by the students regarding the promotion of the Cuban Dancing Musical Culture in the school. Interviews with leaders and surveys were applied to students.Results: they are appreciated through the participation of these students in different cultural activities, applyingthe creation, the physical exercise, the good maintenance of health, the appropriation of knowledge, art, Cuban culture and tradition.Conclusions: the Casino dance workshop also allows acting in the social interrelation, the proportion of knowledge, and the development of skills and artistic abilities influencing the improvement and improvement of the quality of life of students, the formation of their personalities and the enrichment of their values.

Estimuló la reflexión y el debate.  Contribuyó al desarrollo de la competencia  comunicativa y al aprendizaje cooperativo. El 60% de los profesores lo aplicaron con resultados  significativos.Conclusiones: la utilización de los talleres pedagógicos en el proceso de enseñanza–aprendizaje del idioma español potenció el desarrollo de la competencia comunicativa en los estudiantes, la socialización, la cooperación y el intercambio de ideas y opiniones.ABSTRACTObjective: contribute to the language training of non-Spanish-speaking students in the development of communicative competence in Spanish language from an interdisciplinary approach through pedagogicalworkshops.Methods: we used videos, guides for research and ICT, the materialist dialectical method, as well as themethods of the theoretical level and the empirical level.Results: verified the development of students’ linguistic abilities such as: knowing how to listen, communicating ideas, arguing and establishing relationships between their knowledge and new knowledge. It stimulated reflection and debate. Contributed to the development of communicative competence and cooperative learning. 60% of teachers applied it with signif icant results.Conclusions: the use of pedagogical workshops in the teaching process - learning the Spanish languagepromoted the development of communicative competence in students, socialization, cooperation and the exchange of ideas and opinions.Keywords: workshop; pedagogical workshop; communicativ e competence; interdisciplinarity

Una estrategia metodológica para su mejoramiento//The socialization of the scientific results of the teachers of the Latin American School of MedicinObjetivo: argumentar la importancia del diseño de una estrategia metodológica para el mejoramiento del desempeño profesional en la socialización de los resultados científicos de los docentes de la Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina.Materiales y Métodos: se utilizó un modelo de investigación cualitativa en la que se emplearon métodos teóricos y empíricos. Se efectuó la revisión bibliográfica, el análisis, síntesis y contrastación de los diferentes criterios y posiciones de los autores de la literatura revisada.Resultados: se logró elaborar una alternativa metodológica que permita a todos los profesionales la elaboración, socialización y presentación de los trabajos de investigación de forma lógica, con una escritura y un lenguaje científico adecuado, contribuyendo a perfeccionar la producción científica de nuestra Institución.Conclusiones: se hace imprescindible que la comunidad científica concientice la importancia que tiene la socialización de los resultados de sus investigaciones y para eso se propone una estrategia educativa institucional para la socialización de los resultados científicos, humanistas y tecnológicos de los profesionales de la ELAM.ABSTRACTObjetive: to argue the importance of the design of a methodological strategy for the improvement of professional performance in the socialization of the scientific results of the teachers of the Latin American School of Medicine.Materials and Methods: a qualitative research model was used in which theoretical and empirical methods were used. The literature review, analysis, synthesis and comparison of the different criteria and positions of the authors of the reviewed literature was carried out.Results: it was possible to elaborate a methodological alternative that allows all the professionals the elaboration, socialization and presentation of the works of investigation of logical form, with a writing and a suitable scientific language, contributing to perfect the scientific production of our Institution.Conclusions: it is essential that the scientific community is aware of the importance of the socialization of the results of their research and for that an institutional educational strategy is proposed for the socialization of the scientific, humanistic and technological results of the ELAM professionals.
