Teacher candidates' perceptions of digital citizenship Ögretmen adaylarinin dijital vatandaslik algisi

SUMMARY

In this study, it was aimed to determine Computer and Instructional Technology Education teacher candidates’ perceptions of digital citizenship. In the current study, qualitative research method was used through semi-structured interviews conducted with 3rd and 4th year of teacher candidates of Computer and Instructional Technology Education on a voluntary basis. Descriptive analysis design was used in analyzing the obtained data. The majority of prospective teachers associated the concept of digital citizenship with digital technology as facilitating individual's life. It was clear that the concept was perceived correctly. Teacher candidates all think that digital citizenship education should be given at schools for the purpose of using technology consciously and correctly. Findings revealed that teacher candidates mostly use digital technology for social networking, making purchases and investigating assignments. Digital commerce which is one of the nine dimensions of digital citizenship is used by all prospective teachers. Paying attention in choosing secure sites for online shopping shows that majority of teacher candidates are conscious about it. ÖzetBu çalisma ile Bilgisayar ve Ögretim Teknolojileri Egitimi ögretmen adaylarinin dijital vatandaslik algilarini belirlemek amaçlanmistir. Nitel arastirma metodolojisi kullanilarak yürütülen çalismada 3. ve 4. sinif Bilgisayar ve Ögretim Teknolojileri Egitimi (BÖTE) ögretmen adaylariyla gönüllülük esasina göre yari yapilandirilmis görüsmeler yapilmistir. Elde edilen verilerin analiz edilmesinde betimsel analiz yöntemi kullanilmistir. Ögretmen adaylarinin büyük çogunlugu dijital vatandaslik kavramini dijital teknolojinin bireyin yasamini kolaylastirmasi seklinde ele almistir. Kavramin dogru bir sekilde ele alindigi görülmektedir. Ögretmen adaylarinin hepsi teknolojinin bilinçli ve dogru bir sekilde kullanilmasi için dijital vatandaslikla ilgili okullarda bir egitim verilmesinin gerekli oldugunu düsünmektedirler. Ögretmen adaylarinin dijital teknolojileri en çok sosyal aglara girmek, alis veris yapmak ve ödev arastirmak için kullandiklari görülmüstür. Dijital vatandasligin dokuz boyutundan biri olan dijital ticareti ise ögretmen adaylarinin hepsi kullanmaktadirlar. Ögretmen adaylarinin büyük çogunlugunun online alisveris yapacaklari siteleri seçerken güvenli siteleri seçmeye dikkat etmeleri, bu konuda bilinçli olduklarini göstermektedir.
