Examination of Relationship between Self-Respect Levels and Success Tendencies of Sports Sciences Faculty Students

SUMMARY

The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between self-respect levels and success tendencies of university students. In accordance with this purpose, 577 randomly selected students from the Faculty of Sports Sciences of Erciyes University are selected. As data collection tools; Rosenberg self-respect scale (Çuhadaroglu, 1986), Success Tendencies Scale (Akin and Çetin, 2007) and “Personal Information Form" prepared by the researcher were used. The data obtained from Personal Information Form were analyzed with SPSS20.0 package program. Personal information and inventory total scores and factor scores of candidates were determined by determining frequency (f) and percentage (%) values. Pearson Product-Moment Correlation analysis (r) was used to reveal the relationship between the scores obtained from the scales and multiple regression analysis (ß) was used to determine whether the scores obtained from each other were predictive. As a result, the learning tendency sub-dimension; Participation in discussions, self-respect, trust in people with parental interest and psychic isolation, Performance tendency sub-dimension with sensitivity to criticism, fancifulness, psychosomatic symptoms, interpersonal relationships and relationships with father, relationship between father and performance avoidance tendency, interpersonal relationship, criticism It was calculated that there was a significant relationship between sensitivity, depressive affect, fancifulness and psychosomatic symptoms.
