POPULATION BASED ESTIMATES OF MATERNAL MORTALITY IN MOJOKERTO, EAST JAVA (The application of indirect technique : Sisterhood Method)

SUMMARY

Mendapatkan angka kematian maternal secara langsung merupakan kendala bagi berbagai negara ber­kembang. Oleh sebab itu mendapatkannya secara tidak langsung merupakan alternatif untuk dikembang­kan. "Sisterhood method", pendekatan tidak langsung yang dikembangkan oleh Wendy Graham dkk, adalah salah satu alternatif untuk dipertimbangkan. Penerapan metode tersebut dalam survei rumah tangga di Mojokerto memberikan hasil yang konsisten dengan penerapan di negara lain (Gambia dan Peru). Mater­nal mortality ratio (MMR) dari metode tersebut di Mojokerto (397 per 100.000) juga dapat dibandingkan dengan hasil penelitian MMR cara langsung di Indonesia setelah dipertimbangkan kekurangan cara langsung.

COVID-19: riesgos de la medicación sin evidencia / COVID-19: medication risks without evidence COVID-19: riesgos de la medicación sin evidencia / COVID-19: medication risks without evidenceIntroducción: la aparición de crisis sanitarias globales, como laocasionada por el virus SARS Cov-2, generan profundos dilemaséticos. La población exige medidas de atención y profilaxis conrapidez. Propiciando que muchas personas, incluso profesionalesde la salud, oferten medicamentos sin ningún tipo de evidencia.Objetivo: argumentar la necesidad de la evidencia, en losmedicamentos que se ofertan para el manejo y prevención de laCOVID-19.Desarrollo: la medicina basada en la evidencia aparece, comotal, después de los 1900. Antes de esta fecha, la medicina estababasada en la creencia y la experiencia. Con el surgimiento de lacrisis sanitaria actual, la población exige medicamentos para lacuración de la enfermedad. Esto permite que aparezcan personas,ofertando tratamientos sin fundamento y promoviendo fármacospara profilaxis sin base científica.Conclusiones: no existe ningún fármaco aprobadoespecíficamente para el tratamiento o profilaxis de la COVID-19.Toda intervención debe basarse en los sanos principios de lamedicina, fundamentándose en la mejor evidencia disponible.Palabras clave: bioética; discusiones bioéticas; derechos delpaciente; infecciones por coronavirus.ABSTRACTIntroduction: the appearance of global health crises, suchas that generated by the SARS Cov-2 virus, generate profoundethical dilemmas. The population demands measures of attentionand prophylaxis quickly. Encouraging that many people, includinghealth professionals, offer medications without any evidence.Objective: to argue the need for evidence, in the medicationsoffered for the management and prevention of COVID-19.Development: Evidence-based medicine appears as such afterthe 1900s. Before this date, medicine was based on belief and experience. With the emergence of the current health crisis, the population is demanding medications to cure the disease. This allows people to appear, offering unproved treatments and promoting no evidence prophylaxis drugs.Conclusions: there is no drug specifically approved for thetreatment or prophylaxis of COVID-19. All interventions mustbe established on the principles of medicine based on the bestavailable evidence.Keywords: Bioethics; Bioethical Issues; Patient Rights;Coronavirus Infections.
