THE USE OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES IN CHILDREN LITERATURE IN INDONESIA

SUMMARY

PEMAKAIAN BAHASA ASING DALAM SASTRA ANAK KARYA ANAK DI INDONESIA  AbstractChildren literature created by those who are between 9-12 years old in Indonesia describes children’s world and thought. There can be much found such as description of children’s dreams, children’s idol figures, also things liked and disliked by children. The children’ s world and thought tend to be described in foreign language in term of English. The English usage can be seen from place nomenclature, things nomenclature, figure nomenclature, and dialogue among characters.  It means that children writers have ability to use English. This reality shows positive phenomenon that they are able to create such thing the same with other children writers in the world, which attracts other foreign children readers to read in one side. In fact in other side, this phenomenon points that inheritance phenomenon of Indonesian language as if it is unable to represent children‘s expression as a whole. Keywords: children literature, foreign languages, Indonesian languageAbstrakSastra anak yang diciptakan oleh anak-anak usia 9-12 tahun di Indonesia menggambarkan dunia dan pemikiran anak-anak. Di dalamnya ditemukan banyak hal seperti penggambaran cita-cita anak-anak, tokoh-tokoh ideal anak-anak, dan juga hal-hal yang disukai dan tidak disukai oleh anak-anak.  Dunia dan pemikiran anak-anak tersebut cenderung digambarkan dalam bahasa asing dalam hal ini bahasa Inggris. Pemakaian bahasa Inggris tersebut terlihat dari penamaan tempat, penamaan benda, penamaan tokoh, dan juga dialog antar tokoh. Hal tersebut memperlihatkan bahwa pengarang anak-anak tersebut memiliki kemampuan untuk menggunakan bahasa Inggris . Di satu sisi, kenyataan tersebut menunjukkan gejala positif bahwa pengarang anak-anak mampu membuat karya mereka setara dengan karya anak-anak lain yang ada di dunia, lebih lanjut lagi karya anak-anak tersebut menarik anak-anak  dari negara lain untuk membaca karya mereka. Namun di sisi lain, hal tersebut memperlihatkan fenomena peninggalan terhadap bahasa yaitu bahasa Indonesia, seakan-akan bahasa Indonesia tidak mampu mewakili ekpresi anak-anak secara keseluruhan.Kata kunci: sastra anak, bahasa asing, bahasa Indonesia
