Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Pediátricos / Evaluation and Training of the Nursing Personnel: Pediatric Intensive Care UnitIntroducción: La disposición y preparación del personal de enfermería es uno de los aspectos fundamentales en las Unidades de Cuidados Intensivos Pediátricos. Objetivo: Evaluar el grado de competencia y desempeño de enfermeros en la Terapia Pediátrica en relación a técnicas de Abordajes Vasculares y no Vasculares. Métodos: Investigación aplicada, descriptiva, prospectiva y longitudinal durante el 2008 en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Pediátricos, Hospital Provincial Docente "Pepe Portilla", Pinar del Río, Cuba. Se utilizaron métodos de encuesta y observación de forma comparativa en dos momentos, separados de un curso de capacitación. El universo y la muestra coincidieron en un total de 35 enfermeros. Resultados: Se logró una elevación del nivel de conocimiento de los enfermeros en relación a los abordajes vasculares y no vasculares posterior a un curso de capacitación elaborado a partir de necesidades de aprendizaje detectadas. Conclusiones: Es imprescindible la constante preparación y superación del personal de enfermería que trabaja en los servicios de atención al grave sobre todo en las Unidades Pediátricas. ABSTRACT Introduction: The disposition and preparation of the nursing personnel is one of the main aspects in the Pediatric Intensive Care Units.Objective: To evaluate the degree of competence and performance of the nurses in Pediatric Intensive Care Units in relation to vascular and non- vascular approach techniques. Methods:An applied, descriptive, prospective and longitudinal research carried out during 2008 in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at "Pepe Portilla" Provincial Teaching Hospital, Pinar del Rio. Cuba. Survey and observation were the methods used compared in two moments and separate from a training course. The universe and the sample coincided in a total of 35 nurses. Results: An increase was obtained in the level of knowledge of the nurses in relation to vascular and non-vascular approaches after the training course considering the learning needs. Conclusions: It is necessary the continuing preparation and training of the nursing staff in the intensive care services in all Pediatric Units.Key words: training, professional competence.

Plan de cuidados de Enfermería para pacientes operados de Hernia Discal Lumbar en el CCOI Frank País Plan de cuidados de Enfermería para pacientes operados de Hernia Discal Lumbar en el CCOI Frank PaísObjetivo: Diseñar un plan de cuidados para pacientes operados de hernia discal lumbar en el servicio de Atención Medica Internacional (AMI) del Complejo Científico Ortopédico Internacional Frank País.Materiales y métodos: Estudio descriptivo de corte transversal en el Complejo Científico Ortopédico Internacional Frank País durante el período 2018-2019. La muestra estuvo representada por la totalidad de las enfermeras que laboran en el servicio (N =13). Se tuvieron en cuenta las variables: edad, sexo, titulación en enfermería, superación de postgrado, valoración sobre las necesidades físicas y emocionales del paciente y el accionar del personal de enfermería para satisfacer las necesidades. Resultados: Predominó la edad de 40 a 45 años (61,5%), el 100% perteneció al sexo femenino y todas se superaron profesionalmente por entrenamientos. El 61,5 % fueron Licenciadas. Las necesidades en los pacientes operados de hernia discal lumbar fueron el dolor, la actividad física y la higiene personal las cuales se encontraron en la totalidad de los pacientes estudiados. El 38,4% del personal realizó acciones insuficientes esto correspondió a los que se encontraban en titulación de técnico.Conclusiones: El diseño de un plan permitió estructurar la práctica científica desde la valoración hasta la evaluación de los resultados en el paciente operado de hernia discal lumbar ingresado en el servicio de Atención Medica Internacional.Objective: To design a care plan for patients operated on for lumbar disc herniation in the International Medical Attention Service (AMI) of the Frank País International Orthopedic Scientific Complex.Materials and methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study at the Frank País International Orthopedic Scientific Complex during the period 2018-2019. The sample was represented by all the nurses who work in the service (N = 13). The variables were taken into account: age, sex, nursing degree, postgraduate completion, assessment of the physical and emotional needs of the patient and the actions of the nursing staff to meet the needs.Results: The age of 40 to 45 years predominated (61.5%), 100% belonged to the female sex and all were professionally overcome by training. 61.5% were graduates. The needs in patients operated on for lumbar disc herniation were pain, physical activity and personal hygiene, which were found in all the patients studied. 38.4% of the personnel carried out insufficient actions, this corresponded to those with a technical degree.Conclusions: The design of a plan allowed structuring the scientific practice from the assessment to the evaluation of the results in the operated patient for lumbar disc herniation admitted to the International Medical Attention service.
