SUMMARY
AbstractInterpersonal contact between the lecturers and students improves the development of critical thinking skills, The process is hampered by the geographical distance between the lecturers and the students in the case of distance education and learning, In many cases distance learning is, however, the only option. The distance can successfully be overcome through careful planning of contact opportunities between the lecturers and students, The development of critical thinking skills through distance education and learning is thus possible through the commitment of both the lecturers and the students.
