FUNCIONAMIENTO FAMILIAR E IDEACIÓN SUICIDA EN ESTUDIANTES DE SECUNDARIA DE INSTITUCIONES EDUCATIVAS EN VILLA EL SALVADOR

SUMMARY

This study aimed to determine the relationship between family functioning and suicidal ideation in high school students from educational institutions in Villa ElSalvador. A correlational non-experimental design study was carried out in a sample made up of 840 students aged 14 to 17 years in Lima. The instruments used were the Olson, Portner and Lavee Family Cohesion and Adaptability Assessment Scale and the Beck, Kovacs and Weissman Suicidal Ideation Scale. The results indicate that in family cohesion the type of unrelated family predominates (29.5%) and in family adaptability the type of rigid family predominates (29.0%). Regarding suicidal ideation, the low level was more prevalent (46.5%). When correlating the variables, it is verified that it is inverse, low and significant (p<.05). Concluding that the lower the family cohesion and adaptability, the higher the suicidal ideation.
