En genel anlami ile sadece olgulari bilinebilir olarak kabul eden Pozitivizm, basta doga bilimleri olmak üzere tüm bilim alanlarini etkilemistir. Bu makalede sosyal bilimler alaninda ortaya çiktigi ilk günden beri egemen olan Pozitivizm’in Bati dünyasindaki ilk temsilcilerini, tarihsel gelisimini ve bu gelisim sürecinde kavramin ortaya çikisina zemin hazirlayan Rönesans, Reform hareketlerine ve bunlara paralel olarak Aydinlanma dönemine deginilecektir.
