SAFAHAT’TAN HAREKETLE MEHMET AKIF’IN ZAMANINI VE BATI’YI DEGERLENDIRISI / MEHMET AKIF ERSOY'S EVALUATION ON HIS TIME AND THE WEST IN THE LIGHT OF SAFAHAT

SUMMARY

Osmanli Devleti’nin son yillarina ve Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin ortaya çikisina taniklik eden Mehmet Akif Ersoy, imparatorluktan millî devlete geçiste ortaya çikan birçok zorlugu bire bir yasar. Bu sikintili dönemde yasananlar, Avrupa’ya bakisi derinden etkiler ve zamanla, Türk milletinin gözündeki perdeyi kaldirarak Bati’nin maskesini düsürür. Kendi döneminde Akif, iste böylesine bir aydinlanma atesini yakan insanlardandir. Dogu’yu, Bati’yi, yasadigi cografyayi ve mensubu bulundugu milleti çok iyi taniyan yazar; Bati’nin ilmî degerlerinin ve birikiminin de farkindadir. O, Bati’nin birikimine düsmanca tavir takinmaz ve ayakta durabilmek, varligimizi sürdürebilmek için ondan istifade edilmesi gerektigini düsünür. Bu makalede, olumlu ve cezbedici taraflarinin yaninda Bati’nin bizim için tehlike arz eden yönleri, Akif’in Safahat’indan hareketle ortaya konulmaya çalisilacaktir.
