RESEARCHES CONCERNING POLLEN’S GERMINATION AND VIABILITY OF SOME SOUR CHERRIES VARIETIES IN THE PLAIN AREA OF BANAT

SUMMARY

Knowing the fact that sour cherries have a frequent sterility phenomenon happening, we wanted to study some aspects about the morphological features of the pollen and process of binding fruits. The observations were made to the sour cherries varieties cultivated in the Didactic Station Timisoara.The biological material that was used is made up of 5 varieties of sour cherries: Timpurii de Cluj, Oblacinska, Targu Jiu 505, Schattenmorelle and Pitic de Iasi.There were observed the following aspects: the size and form of the pollen grains, pollen’s viability kept in exicator, pollen’s germination capacity, using solid mediums and establishing the fruit binding way.
