SUMMARY
Irrigation systems are composed of a series of hydro-ameliorative works that provide water collection from the power source, adduction and distribution of water to the plants. These hydro-ameliorative works (irrigation, drainage) are extremely important for agriculture. The main objective of this paper is to obtain a feasible execution plan for the development and rehabilitation of hydro-ameliorative works from Some? Mic meadow between Cluj-Napoca and Dej. The need for these studies come in the context that in 2010 there were significant damages in the agricultural sector in this area, especially Jucu and Bontida, due to a torrential rain that took place on 22.06.2010. The negative effects were visible even after several days, and 60% of the crops were destroyed. Therefore to achieve this objective we used GIS techniques to obtain the necessary plans to design an automated drainage-irrigation system consisting of pumping stations, drainage, irrigation mixed function channels. After studying the terrain configuration and hydro-geological characteristics was agreed that the most effective would be that the collector channels must be located at distances of 200-400 m and have lengths between 800-1500 m. Also to combat excess moisture is required a collector channel placed at the base of the slope that can retrieve the rainfall leaked from the slope.
