ZONAL PROPINQUITIES AND DIFFERENCES OF THE AGRICULTURAL STRUCTURES FROM ROMANIA

SUMMARY

Using a new methodology of evaluation of the agricultural structures, this paperwork highlights thefact that in order to characterize the agricultural structures on development regions it is not sufficient todetermine the average size of the agricultural exploitations. It is emphasized that such averages may result fromvery different distributions of the agricultural surfaces on size classes. The comparative computation highlightsthe fact that in all development regions of Romania, the agriculture is characterized by a strong phenomenon ofpolarization. This creates wrong perceptions concerning the degree of modernity of the agricultural structures inRomania. The average size of the exploitations by regions is small and very small. The degree of concentrationof the agricultural surfaces in large size exploitations is however considerable. One appreciate that this indicatoris more believable than the average size.
