Relationship between family enviroment perception of parents and children’s self concept perceptionEbeveynlerin aile ortami algisi ile çocuklarin benlik algisi arasindaki iliski

SUMMARY

The most natural setting that a child can find love, compassion and close concern, which are necessary for bodily and inner health, is family environment. The events and situations that a child experiences has been setting the foundation of development of self perception. Child's interaction with family members has been helping him to create judgements and values about himself. The aim of this research is to investigate the levels of parents' perception of family environment and 6-year-old children's perception of self. Research has been carried out through relational survey technique with the aim of defining the levels of children's perception of self in terms of parents' perception of family environment. 6-year-old children, who go to kindergarten in the city centre of Antalya in Turkey, in the educational year of 2011-2012, and their parents have constituted the universe of the research. Sample group has been formed with 81 children chosen randomly from the universe and their parents. Demoulin Self Perception Scale for Children (6-year) and Family Environment Scale have been used to collect the data. As a result of the research, it has been seen that children's self perception is affected positively when the family environment is unity and togetherness focused, and it is affected negatively when the family environment is control focused. ÖzetÇocugun, beden ve ruh sagligi için gerekli olan sevgi, sefkat ve yakin ilgiyi bulabilecegi en dogal ortam aile ortamidir. Çocugun aile ortaminda yasadigi olay ve durumlar benlik algisinin olusumuna temel hazirlamaktadir. Çocugun ailedeki bireylerle olan etkilesimi, onun kendi hakkindaki yargi ve degerlerini olusturmasina yardimci olmaktadir. Bu arastirmanin amaci, anne babanin aile ortamini algilayisi ile 6 yas çocuklarinin benlik algilayis düzeylerini incelemektir. Arastirma, anne babalarin aile ortamini algilamalarina göre çocuklarin benlik algilayis düzeylerini belirlemek amaciyla iliskisel tarama modeline uygun olarak yapilmistir. Arastirmanin evrenini, 2011-2012 egitim ögretim yilinda Antalya ili merkez ilçelerine bagli anaokullarina devam eden alti yas çocuklari, ögretmenleri ve anne babalari olusturmaktadir. Örneklem random örnekleme yöntemiyle evrenden seçilen 81 çocuk ve onlarin anne babalarindan olusturulmustur. Verilerin toplanmasinda, Demoulin Çocuklar için Benlik Algisi Ölçegi (6 yas) ve Aile Ortami Ölçegi kullanilmistir. Arastirma sonucunda, aile ortami birlik ve beraberlik odakli oldukça çocuklarin benlik algisinin olumlu yönde etkilendigi, aile ortami denetim odakli oldukça da olumsuz yönde etkilendigi görülmüstür.
