Motivational implications of the theory of Selfdetermination in the workplace

SUMMARY

Given its importance and relevance for motivation at work, addresses the Self-Determination Theory (SDT) in relation to the workplace. It is argued on the positive implications it may have to clarify some controversies that generated the concepts of extrinsic and intrinsic motivation, and to address some fundamental issues of contemporary organization: incentive systems, organizational culture, organizational learning and management knowledge, it is concluded that these processes contribute more to organizational productivity to the extent they are consistent with a work culture that promotes the fulfillment of three basic psychological needs related to Vargas, J. ISSN 2007 - 0705. pp: 154 – 175 - 156 - work: autonomy, competence and socialization or relationship concepts which postulates the Self-Determination Theory.
