CARACTERISATION PHYSICO-CHIMIQUE DU LIXIVIAT D'UNE DECHARGE DE L'AFRIQUE DE L'OUEST: CAS DE LA DECHARGE D'AKOUEDO (ABIDJAN-CÔTE D'IVOIRE)

SUMMARY

Urban solid wastes from the city of Abidjan (Côte d'Ivoire) contain more 60 % of waste household. They have been stockpiled in Akouedo landfill. This landfill devoided of collect and treatment system for leachates. The present study aims to make physicochemical characterization of the landfill leachate. We have been proceeded to range sampling from february to July 2012. In this period, the physicochemical analysis of sample revealed the high concentrations of NO3- (186.64 mg/L, PO43-(148.64mg/L), NH4+(916.4mg/L). This mineral pollution is translated by hight electric conductivity (CE) which maximum value attains 17150 µS/cm. In the same way, organic pollution is also present; Chemical oxygen demand (COD) ranged from 642 to 2739 mg/O2/L with an average of 1306.25 mg/O2/L and the biological oxygen (BOD5) from 300 to 1054 mg/O2/L with an average of 588,08  mg/O2/L. The BOD to COD ratio varied from 0.37 to 0.74 with 0.47. It show that leachate contain biodegradable organic matter. They find into intermediate condition between young and old leachate.
