SUMMARY
Aim: The purpose of this research is to identify courses related to arts and sports in nursing curricula which is identified a discipline including the responsibility to promote and preserve community health care and planning improvement of healthcare systems.Methods: This descriptive research was carried out in March 2014. There are 114 nursing schools in 179 universities in Turkey. 105 Nursing education curricula were attained from The Council of Higher Education Web Site. The diversity of courses related to arts and sport were evaluated. The data were evaluated with SPSS. This includes numbers, percent methods and Chi-square analysis.Results: There were 179 universities including 108 state and 71 private universities in Turkey. The data were attained from The Council of Higher Education Web Site. 88 state and 26 private universities, a total of 114 nursing department were determined. 114 nursing schools (consist of 70 health high school, 31 Faculty of Health Sciences and 4 Faculty of Nursing)’ educational curricula had been obtained from web site. Accordingly, 34.3% of the nursing department had the courses related to arts and 28.6% of them related to sports was observed. In the courses related to the arts, music 24%, painting 18.3%, creative drama, theater, cinema 14.1%, fine arts 12.7%, folk dances 9.9%, dance, rhythm 5.6%, photography 5.6%, crafts, decorations 4.2%, ceramics 2.8%, elocution 2.8% and one quarter of art courses were taught in the first grade. In the courses related to the sports, physical education lesson 28.6%, chess 1% and 24.8% of them were taught in the first grade.Conclusion: The assay was found that one-third of nursing schools had the courses related to arts and sports. The courses related to arts and sports should take place in nursing education curricula because of the nursing profession consists of science and arts and fatigue is the most common illness in this stressful job. ÖzetAmaç: Bu çalisma; bireyin, ailenin, toplumun sagligini korumak ve gelistirmek, hastalik halinde iyilestirme amacina yönelik hizmetlerin; planlanmasi, örgütlenmesi, uygulanmasi, degerlendirilmesinden sorumlu, bilim ve sanattan olusan hemsirelik mesleginin egitiminde sanat ve sporla ilgili derslerin varligi ve çesitligini saptamak üzere gerçeklestirildi. Yöntem: Tanimlayici tipte planlanan çalisma Mart 2014 tarihinde gerçeklestirildi. Yüksekögretim Kurumu internet sayfasindan Ülkemizde bulunan 179 üniversiteden, 114 hemsirelik bölümünün 105’inin ögretim planina ulasildi. Hemsirelik bölümü ögretim programlarinda sanat ve sporla ilgili dersler ve çesitliligi degerlendirildi. Veriler SPSS paket programinda kodlanarak, sayi, yüzde ve Ki- kare analizleri ile degerlendirildi. Bulgular: Yüksekögretim Kurumu internet sayfasindan ülkemizde 108’i devlet, 71’i özel/ vakif üniversitesi olmak üzere 179 üniversite oldugu görüldü. Üniversiteler içerisinde 88’i devlet, 26’si özel/vakif olmak üzere toplamda 114 hemsirelik bölümü oldugu ve bazi üniversitelerde birden fazla hemsirelik bölümü bulundugu saptandi. 114 hemsirelik bölümünün internet ortaminda 105 (70 Saglik Yüksekokulu, 31 Saglik Bilimleri Fakültesi, 4 Hemsirelik Fakültesi)’inin ögretim programina ulasildi. Buna göre hemsirelik bölümlerinin sadece % 34.3’ ünde sanatla; % 28.6 ’sinda sporla ilgili dersin oldugu görüldü. Sanatla ilgili derslerin % 24.0 müzik, % 18.3 resim, % 14.1 yaratici drama, tiyatro, sinema, % 12.7 güzel sanatlar, % 9.9 halk oyunlari, % 5.6 dans, ritim, % 5.6 fotografçilik, % 4.2 el sanatlari, süsleme, % 2.8 seramik, % 2.8 diksiyon oldugu ve bu derslerin % 75.0 oraninda birinci sinifta yer aldigi belirlendi. Sporla ilgili dersler % 28.6 beden egitimi % 1.0 satranç oldugu ve bu derslerin % 24.8 oraninda birinci sinifta yer aldigi belirlendi. Sonuç: Ülkemizdeki hemsirelik bölümlerinin yaklasik olarak üçte birinde sanat ve sporla ilgili dersin oldugu saptandi. Bilim ve sanattan olusan bir meslek olmasi ve tükenmisligin sik yasandigi stresli bir meslek olmasi nedeniyle hemsirelik mesleginin egitiminde sanat ve sporla ilgili derslerin yer almasi önerilir.
