The use of cohesion in the verbal expressions of 8th grade students8. Sinif ögrencilerinin sözlü anlatimlarinda bagdasiklik kullanimlari

SUMMARY

Cohesion is grammatical and lexical relation between semantically related elements in a text. When communication dimension of language is taken into consideration, the area where grammatical elements can be used functionally is expressions of students. This is a field research in descriptive research model. The purpose of this study is to determine the use of cohesion of 8th grade students in their verbal expressions. With this purpose, the students were asked to narrate the books including “Falaka, The Book of Dede Korkut, Yalniz Efe, Selected Tales from The Masnavi, Selected Stories by Sait Faik Abasiyanik, Gulyabani and What Men Live By”. The study group of the research involved 42 students from 3 schools. The cohesion that the students used in their utterance included linking elements, ellipsis, reference, lexical cohesion and substitution respectively. Among components of cohesion, the most common mistakes that the students made in reference, substitution, lexical cohesion, linking elements and ellipsis. According to the results, it has been determined that students scoring high and low marks in Transition from Elementary to Secondary Education (TESE) test and in the exam of Turkish lesson make similar mistakes. ÖzetBagdasiklik, metinde anlamsal olarak birbirine bagli unsurlar arasindaki dil bilgisel ve sözcüksel iliskidir. Dilin iletisim yönü ele alindiginda dilbilgisi unsurlarinin islevsel olarak kullanilabilecegi yer ögrencilerin anlatimlaridir. Betimsel tarama modelinde bir alan arastirmasi olan bu çalismada 8. Sinif ögrencilerinin sözlü anlatimlarinda bagdasiklik kullanimlarinin incelenmesi amaçlanmistir. Bu amaçla “Falaka, Dede Korkut Hikâyeleri, Yalniz Efe, Mesneviden Seçme Hikâyeler, Sait Faik Abasiyanik’tan Seçme Hikâyeler, Gulyabani ve Insan Ne Ile Yasar” kitaplarini ögrencilerin sözlü olarak anlatmalari istenmistir. Arastirmanin çalisma grubunu üç okuldaki kirk iki ögrenci olusturmaktadir. Ögrencilerin konusmalarinda kullandiklari bagdasiklik unsurari sirasiyla; baglama ögeleri, eksilti, gönderim, kelime bagdasikligi ve degistirimdir. Ögrencilerin kullandiklari bagdasiklik unsurlari içinde en çok yaptiklari hatalar ise gönderim, degistirim, kelime bagdasikligi, baglama ögeleri ve eksiltilerdedir. Sonuçlara göre Temel Egitimden Ortaögretime Geçis Sinavi (TEOG) ve Türkçe dersi sinavinda yüksek not alan ögrencilerle düsük not alan ögrencilerin benzer hatalar yaptiklari tespit edilmistir.
