SUMMARY
OF ANTI-ZINC TRANSPORTER (ANTI-ZNT8) ANTIBODIES FOR THE EARLY DIAGNOSIS OF DIABETES MELLITUS TYPE 1Type I Diabetes Mellitus (DM1) is an autoimmune disease represented by lymphocyte infiltration and destruction of beta-pancreatic cells. The objective was to verify the importance of the use of the Anti-ZnT8 marker in the early diagnosis of DM1. A literature review was carried out based on articles published in national and international journals. Early diagnosis of DM is important to avoid clinical consequences, given the rapid initiation of treatment and follow-up. Thus, immunological markers, mainly the anti-ZnT8 can be used in the early diagnosis of DM1 avoiding the discovery of the disease only in diabetic ketoacidosis (CAD), which often happens in more aggressive forms of DM1, thus characterizing a sudden onset, or with signs and symptoms unrelated before the CAD.
