Effect of Date Palm Dust Mite Oligonychus afrasiaticus (Mc G) (Acarina: Tetanychidae) on the Physiochemical Characters of Four Date Palm Species in South of Libya

Abstract

Date palm trees are usually attack by several pests, the most important dust mite (Oligonychus afrasiaticus) which was observed in all Date palm trees region in Libya, especially last years, it caused around 20-30 thousand ton in annual production. The study was conducted in Sabha farms (Libya), the most species of Date palm trees in this region is Tagueat – Alkhadray – Talees – Al-saeedy(common names), the study was compared to determine the effect of the dust mite on Physiochemical Characters of Four Date palm species. The result showed that the dust mite had on adverse effect on some Physiochemical Characters of dates (length – weight – volume), also, the chemical characters of humanity and dust were more effect on effect dates comparing pure dates on in sabha.
