Investigación cualitativa, pueblos indígenas y procesos políticos

Resumen

El presente artículo indaga las formas de investigar los procesos políticos en los que participan actores indígenas; específicamente, sugiere un marco conceptual, una metodología y tres métodos de investigación. Primero, utiliza el “poder”, el “proceso político” y la “política pública” como bases de un marco conceptual para estudiar la relación de los pueblos indígenas con los sistemas de gobierno contemporáneo. En segundo lugar, propone estudiar cualitativamente los procesos políticos, particularmente cuando hay actores indígenas. En tercer lugar, el artículo se enfoca en procedimientos, herramientas y técnicas para recopilar y analizar datos: los métodos etnográficos, la teoría fundamentada (MTF) y los estudios de casos. Por otra parte, para ampliar el tema de los datos, se revisan problemas de acceso a la información y aborda los temas de la generación, gestión y análisis de los datos. Dado que en la investigación cualitativa la información recolectada tiene diferentes orígenes y formatos, el artículo discute la relevancia de la técnica de triangulación para validar, consolidar y corroborar los datos. Finalmente, se examinan tres estrategias de análisis cualitativo: categorización, conexión y notas. El objetivo del artículo es exponer formas de investigar actores indígenas desde la ciencia política.

Biografía del autor/a

Héctor Calleros Rodríguez

Dr. Calleros is a lecturer and researcher at the American Studies Center of the University of Warsaw. His research is centred on the analysis of political processes, social conflicts and ethnicity. On Political Institutions, his focus is on the role of the legislature within constitutional democracy.

He has been a visiting professor at the University of Bucharest´s Research Institute and has been a visiting researcher at the University of Warsaw´s Institute of International Relations. He has provided advise on public policy (conflict resolution, human rights, transparency and elections) in Mexico.

His teaching experience includes PhD, MA and BA programmes in Mexico, Poland, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Trained as a Political Scientist, Dr. Calleros obtained a B.A. from UNAM´s School of Political and Social Sciences. He received his doctoral degree from the University of Leeds (U.K.) and received his M.A. in Legislative Studies from the University of Hull (U.K.).
