Octubre a diciembre 2017 / Epidemiological characterization of population aging in a health area. October to December 2017Objetivo: caracterizar epidemiológicamente el envejecimiento poblac onal en el área de salud Consultorio Médico 4 durante octubre a diciembre del 2017.Materiales y Métodos: se realizó una investigación descriptiva y transversal en el Consultorio Médico 4 perteneciente al Policlínico Universitario “Pedro Borrás Astorga” de la ciudad Pinar del Río, Cuba en el período de octubre a diciembre del 2017. El universo estuvo constituido por 113 adultos mayores pertenecientes a dicha área de salud y la muestra quedó conformada por 73 de ellos. Se tuvieron en cuenta los principios bioéticos de la investigación, mientras que los resultados se expresaron en frecuencias absolutas y relativas a través de tablas y gráficos estadísticos.Resultados: en la investigación predominaron los adultos mayores con edades comprendidas entre 80 y 89 años (56,1%). Los grupos de medicamentos más consumidos fueron las vitaminas (82,1%), los sedantes–hipnóticos (56,1%) y antihipertensivos (43,8 %). Las enfermedades más frecuentes resultaron: hipertensión arterial (64,3%), enfermedad cerebrovascular (35,6%) y enfermedad psiquiátrica (24,6%).Conclusiones: la incidencia de aspectos clínicos-epidemiológicos relacionados al envejecimiento poblacional del Consultorio Médico 4 requiere de una concepción y atención médica integrales que vele por una mayor calidad de vida y satisfacción de los adultos mayores.ABSTRACTObjective: to characterize epidemiologically the population aging in the health area of Medical Office 4 during October to December 2017.Materials and Methods: a descriptive and transversal research was carried out in the Medical Clinic 4belonging to the “Pedro Borrás Astorga” University Polyclinic in the city of Pinar del Río, Cuba, from October to December 2017. The universe consisted of 113 adult’s seniors belonging to said health area and the sample was made up of 73 of them. The bioethical principles of the research were taken into account, while the results were expressed in absolute and relative frequencies through tables and statistical graphs.Results: Older adults aged between 80 and 89 years (56.1%) predominated in the research. The groups ofmedications most consumed were vitamins (82.1%), sedative-hypnotics (56.1%) and antihypertensive drugs (43.8%). The most frequent diseases were: hypertension (64.3%), cerebrovascular disease (35.6%) and psychiatric illness (24.6%).Conclusions: the incidence of clinical-epidemiological aspects related to the population aging of the MedicalOffice 4 requires an integral conception and medical attention that ensures a higher quality of life andsatisfaction of the elderly.Keywords: elderly adult; population aging; clinical-epidemiological; Primary health care.

Programa de bioética para la carrera de Medicina en las universidades bolivianas / Bioethics program for the career of Medicine in bolivian universities Programa de bioética para la carrera de Medicina en las universidades bolivianas / Bioethics program for the career of Medicine in bolivian universitiesObjetivo: validar una propuesta de programa para la integración de los contenidos de Bioética para la carrera deMedicina en universidades bolivianas.Métodos: se realizó una investigación de desarrollo con 60 estudiantes y 15 profesores que imparten diferentes asignaturas, se seleccionaron de forma aleatoria simple y se utilizó una tabla de números aleatorios. Se implementó en la Universidad Mayor de San Simon y UDABOL del departamento de Cochabamba, Bolivia y se emplearon métodos teóricos, empíricos, estadísticos y criterio de expertos.Resultados: de los 60 estudiantes de muestra, 43 no conocen el término Bioética, no han oído hablar de él o no se ha tratado en clases (71,6%); el 100% de los estudiantes coinciden en la necesidad de incluir la Bioética en el Plan de Estudios porque mediante este conocimiento, sus principios y postulados, se graduarían más preparados. En entrevista realizada a 15 profesores que imparten el ciclo de asignaturas relacionadas con la especialidad de Medicina, solo dos conocen de Bioética, para un 13,3%, los 13 restantes dominan elementos éticos generales de educación, pero alegan desconocer el término Bioética, lo que constituye un 86,7% del total de profesores entrevistados.Conclusiones: con la aplicación de diferentes métodos se pudo constatar el no conocimiento y la necesidad del contenido de Bioética en la carrera de Medicina en las universidades bolivianas. El Programa Bioética para la carrera de Ciencias Naturales, fue validado de muy adecuado, por el criterio de expertos y demuestra su pertinencia y aplicación en la carrera de Medicina.Palabras clave: Bioética; Plan Tematico; Criterio de expertos; Validación; carrera de Medicina.ABSTRACTObjective: to validate a program proposal for the integration of Bioethics contents for the Medicine career in Bolivian universities.Methods: a development research was carried out with 60 students and 15 teachers who taught different subjects, they were selected in a simple random manner and a table of random numbers was used. It wasimplemented in the Universidad Mayor de San Simon and UDABOL in the department of Cochabamba, Bolivia, and theoretical, empirical, statistical methods and expert criteria were used.Results: of the 60 sample students, 43 do not know the term Bioethics, have not heard of it or have not been treated in classes (71,6%); 100% of the students agree on the need to include Bioethics in the Plan ofStudies because through this knowledge, its principles and postulates, they would graduate more prepared.In an interview with 15 teachers who teach the cycle of subjects related to the specialty of Medicine, only two know about Bioethics, for 13,3%, the remaining 13 dominate general ethical elements of education, but claim to ignore the term Bioethics, which constitutes 86,7% of the total number of teachers interviewed.Conclusions: with the application of different methods it was possible to confirm the lack of knowledge and the need of the content of Bioethics in the Medicine career in the Bolivian universities. The BioethicsProgram for the career of Natural Sciences, was validated as very appropriate, by the criteria of experts and demonstrates its relevance and application in the Medicine career.Keywords: Bioethics; Thematic Plan; Expert criteria; Validation; medical career.

COVID-19: riesgos de la medicación sin evidencia / COVID-19: medication risks without evidence COVID-19: riesgos de la medicación sin evidencia / COVID-19: medication risks without evidenceIntroducción: la aparición de crisis sanitarias globales, como laocasionada por el virus SARS Cov-2, generan profundos dilemaséticos. La población exige medidas de atención y profilaxis conrapidez. Propiciando que muchas personas, incluso profesionalesde la salud, oferten medicamentos sin ningún tipo de evidencia.Objetivo: argumentar la necesidad de la evidencia, en losmedicamentos que se ofertan para el manejo y prevención de laCOVID-19.Desarrollo: la medicina basada en la evidencia aparece, comotal, después de los 1900. Antes de esta fecha, la medicina estababasada en la creencia y la experiencia. Con el surgimiento de lacrisis sanitaria actual, la población exige medicamentos para lacuración de la enfermedad. Esto permite que aparezcan personas,ofertando tratamientos sin fundamento y promoviendo fármacospara profilaxis sin base científica.Conclusiones: no existe ningún fármaco aprobadoespecíficamente para el tratamiento o profilaxis de la COVID-19.Toda intervención debe basarse en los sanos principios de lamedicina, fundamentándose en la mejor evidencia disponible.Palabras clave: bioética; discusiones bioéticas; derechos delpaciente; infecciones por coronavirus.ABSTRACTIntroduction: the appearance of global health crises, suchas that generated by the SARS Cov-2 virus, generate profoundethical dilemmas. The population demands measures of attentionand prophylaxis quickly. Encouraging that many people, includinghealth professionals, offer medications without any evidence.Objective: to argue the need for evidence, in the medicationsoffered for the management and prevention of COVID-19.Development: Evidence-based medicine appears as such afterthe 1900s. Before this date, medicine was based on belief and experience. With the emergence of the current health crisis, the population is demanding medications to cure the disease. This allows people to appear, offering unproved treatments and promoting no evidence prophylaxis drugs.Conclusions: there is no drug specifically approved for thetreatment or prophylaxis of COVID-19. All interventions mustbe established on the principles of medicine based on the bestavailable evidence.Keywords: Bioethics; Bioethical Issues; Patient Rights;Coronavirus Infections.
