Octubre a diciembre 2017 / Epidemiological characterization of population aging in a health area. October to December 2017Objetivo: caracterizar epidemiológicamente el envejecimiento poblac onal en el área de salud Consultorio Médico 4 durante octubre a diciembre del 2017.Materiales y Métodos: se realizó una investigación descriptiva y transversal en el Consultorio Médico 4 perteneciente al Policlínico Universitario “Pedro Borrás Astorga” de la ciudad Pinar del Río, Cuba en el período de octubre a diciembre del 2017. El universo estuvo constituido por 113 adultos mayores pertenecientes a dicha área de salud y la muestra quedó conformada por 73 de ellos. Se tuvieron en cuenta los principios bioéticos de la investigación, mientras que los resultados se expresaron en frecuencias absolutas y relativas a través de tablas y gráficos estadísticos.Resultados: en la investigación predominaron los adultos mayores con edades comprendidas entre 80 y 89 años (56,1%). Los grupos de medicamentos más consumidos fueron las vitaminas (82,1%), los sedantes–hipnóticos (56,1%) y antihipertensivos (43,8 %). Las enfermedades más frecuentes resultaron: hipertensión arterial (64,3%), enfermedad cerebrovascular (35,6%) y enfermedad psiquiátrica (24,6%).Conclusiones: la incidencia de aspectos clínicos-epidemiológicos relacionados al envejecimiento poblacional del Consultorio Médico 4 requiere de una concepción y atención médica integrales que vele por una mayor calidad de vida y satisfacción de los adultos mayores.ABSTRACTObjective: to characterize epidemiologically the population aging in the health area of Medical Office 4 during October to December 2017.Materials and Methods: a descriptive and transversal research was carried out in the Medical Clinic 4belonging to the “Pedro Borrás Astorga” University Polyclinic in the city of Pinar del Río, Cuba, from October to December 2017. The universe consisted of 113 adult’s seniors belonging to said health area and the sample was made up of 73 of them. The bioethical principles of the research were taken into account, while the results were expressed in absolute and relative frequencies through tables and statistical graphs.Results: Older adults aged between 80 and 89 years (56.1%) predominated in the research. The groups ofmedications most consumed were vitamins (82.1%), sedative-hypnotics (56.1%) and antihypertensive drugs (43.8%). The most frequent diseases were: hypertension (64.3%), cerebrovascular disease (35.6%) and psychiatric illness (24.6%).Conclusions: the incidence of clinical-epidemiological aspects related to the population aging of the MedicalOffice 4 requires an integral conception and medical attention that ensures a higher quality of life andsatisfaction of the elderly.Keywords: elderly adult; population aging; clinical-epidemiological; Primary health care.
