AbstractBulk density of soil is a prime indicator of its physical state and the most important parameter in assessing the effects of the cultivation process. In our study it has been proved that the most accurate measurement of the range of changes of this feature is the value of so-called. natural density, to which the soil automatically tends form the state of disintegration or compaction. The problem is the universal ignorance of the rules leading to the determination of this value. As a result experiments conducted in many countries around the world in the system: the density of the soil - plant yield, do not provide the results arranged in a recognizable neither useful system. Key words: optimal bulk density, plant species, categories of optimal bulk density of soils for plants, grain size groups of soils.
