The value of teacher´s skills in the teaching of the management

SUMMARY

Considering the expansion of Brazilian higher education, currently focusing on distance education and the consequent pressure on teacher training, the objective of this study was to analyze the perception of distance education students on teacher skills. We tried to answer the question: What teacher skills are considered most relevant in the opinion of students of Distance Learning? For this, was conducted a descriptive study, using the survey technique, through a structured questionnaire, conducting an exploratory factor analysis, using SPSS software. The results indicated the clarity as the variable with the highest average and the practical experience in business unrelated subjects taught with discipline by teachers with the lowest average. It was further observed that all five variables that comprise the Posture construct had high mean. Finally we identified the skills perceived by the students of distance education as the most relevant in the following order: Posture; Didactic; Relationships; Knowledge; Experience. This classification differs in several points from those identified in the literature. That differentiation can be analyzed, among other things, as a result of the expression of students' perceptions of distance education as opposed to regular student, not the distance.
