Quantitative determination of caffeine in coffee by chemiluminescent method

SUMMARY

The method of caffeine chemilumeniscent determination in coffee beans «Arabica» (Galka Ltd, Lviv, Ukraine) based on reaction of inhibition of chemilumeniscent oxidation of luminol by hydrogen peroxide, catalyzed by blood hemoglobin have been elaborated. It was found that other purine compounds including theobromine and theophylline, in comparable amounts relative to caffeine showed no inhibitory activity or any other effect on chemiluminescence parameters of the system. A recovery was 100.13 ± 1.96%, RSD = 2.12% (d = + 0.14%).
