Medios de enseñanza en la disciplina Informática Médica: libro Metodología de la Investigación y Bioestadística/ Teaching aims in Medical Informatics subject: book of Methodology of Investigation and Biostatistics Medios de enseñanza en la disciplina Informática Médica: libro Metodología de la Investigación y Bioestadística/ Teaching aims in Medical Informatics subject: book of Methodology of Investigation and BiostatisticsObjetivo: describir el libro de Metodología de la Investigación y Bioestadística concebido para la utilización por los estudiantes en la disciplina Informática Médica en el plan de estudios D y en la formación de postgrado de profesionales de la salud.Métodos: de los teóricos se utilizaron el históricológico y analítico-sintético y de los empíricos la observación y el análisis documental relacionado con los documentos relativos al proceso docente en la universidad, documentos del plan de estudio de la carrera, del programa de las asignaturas y especialidades médicas y bibliografía relacionada con la temática de la disciplina. Además, se realizó una entrevista y una encuesta a los estudiantes.Resultados: el libro presenta cuatro temas elaborados para ser asimilados de forma asequible por los estudiantes. El procesamiento estadístico que se muestra se realiza mediante el paquete estadístico SPSS, lo que constituye un valioso aporte del documento. Se proponen ejemplos y ejercicios contextualizados en situaciones de salud, lo que evidencia la importancia de este contenido en la formación médica. El libro es una fuente de gran valor para la formación de los estudiantes de pregrado y para la formación postgraduada.Conclusiones: el libro de texto es uno de los medios de enseñanza que sirve de soporte material a los métodos de enseñanza y junto con ellos posibilitan el logro de los objetivos. Es uno de los medios de enseñanza más utilizado, que se diseñó como material impreso y organiza la selección, secuencia y organización de los contenidos. El perfeccionamiento del plan D en la carrera de Medicina supone una revisión de los medios de enseñanza para su desarrollo; en correspondencia con ello se elaboró un libro de texto de Metodología de la investigación y Bioestadística.ABSTRACTObjective: to describe the Methodology of Investigation and Bio statistics book conceived for the use of the students in the academic plan D of Medical Informatics subject and in the health academicians post academicals formation.Methods: from theoretic were used historical logical and analytical synthetic and from empirical, the observation and documental analysis related to documents with academic process of the university, documents of academic plan of career from programs and subjects and health specialties and bibliography related to subject topics. Besides an interview and a questionnaire were applied to students.Results: the book presents four elaborated topics to be assimilated as an accessible form by the students. The SPSS statistical package was used for statistical processing. Contextualized exercises and examples in health situation are proposed, that evidence the importance of this content in the medical formation. The book is a source of great valor for the students of pre academic and post academic formation.Conclusions: the text book is one of the teaching aims that service as material support to the teaching methods and joining with them allows the preached of the objectives. It is one of the most used teaching aims, that was designed as a printed material and organized the sequence and organization of the contents. The enhancement of plan D in the Medicine career supposes a division of the teaching aims for its development; in correspondence with this a Methodology of Investigation and Bio statistics book was elaborated.

Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina, 18 años formando médicos para el mundo/ Latin American Medicine School, 18 years training physicians for the world Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina, 18 años formando médicos para el mundo/ Latin American Medicine School, 18 years training physicians for the worldObjetivo: exponer los resultados de trabajo de la Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina durante más de 18 años dedicados a la formación de recursos humanos en salud para el mundo.Materiales y Métodos: se realiza una valoración de los resultados alcanzados en la ELAM, basados en la experiencia de los autores, con el apoyo de entrevistas a trabajadores y el análisis documental.Resultados: la ELAM cuenta con más de 28 500 graduados de 105 países, quienes se desempeñan con eficiencia en cualquier parte del mundo, haciendo realidad el sueño del máximo líder de la Revolución cubana. El reto de los participantes en su formación, ha sido lograr en ellos, un alto nivel científico técnico con profundos valores éticos y de solidarios.Conclusiones: en la ELAM los procesos de formación, investigación y extensión realizados desde sus inicios, han sido los pilares que proyectan su visión de futuro, trazándose estrategias que involucran a todos sus gestores y actores, con propósitos tan nobles a favor de la salud del ser humano como centro de atención. La universidad constituye una expresión palpable de internacionalismo, humanidad y solidaridad entre los pueblos y comunidades excluidas, es unsímbolo de lo que puede lograr una nación capaz de compartir sus pocos recursos, en aras de lograr un mundo mejor.Sus egresados son su testimonio.ABSTRACTObjective: to show the Latin American Medicine School work results during more than 18 years dedicated to training human resources on health for the world.Materials and Methods: an evaluation of reached results is analyzed in ELAM, based on authors´ experience withthe support of workers´ interviews and the documental analysis.Results: the ELAM scores with more than 28.500 graduated from 105 countries, who are performing with efficiency in any part of the world, becoming a reality the dream of the maxim leader of the Cuban Revolution. The challenge of the participants in their training has been to get in them a high technical scientific level with deep ethical and solidaritiesvalours.Conclusions: the formation, investigation and extension process in ELAM developed from its beginning have been the bases that project its vision of future, making strategies that enrolled all managers and actors with purposes so noble to favor of human health as a point of attention. The university constitutes a palpable expression of internationalism, humanism and solidarity among peoples and excluded communities, it is a symbol of one nation that is able to share its few resources with the objective to get a rather world. Its issues are its testimony.

Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina/ Importance of the pedagogical strategy for improving the performance of tutors in education at woObjetivo: argumentar la importancia de la estrategia pedagógica para el mejoramiento del desempeño de los tutores en la educación en el trabajo.Material y Métodos: se utilizó un modelo de investigación cualitativa, se emplearon métodos teóricos y empíricos. En las indagaciones teóricas se utilizaron: Análisis documental: en la conformación del marco teórico de la investigación relacionado con el desempeño pedagógico de los tutores en la educación en el trabajo de la Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina (ELAM). El análisis Histórico-Lógico, sistematización, modelación, enfoque de sistema.Resultados: se logró argumentar de manera científica la importancia de elaborar una propuesta de estrategia pedagógica para el mejoramiento del desempeño de los tutores en la educación en el trabajo en la Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina, contribuyendo a perfeccionar la producción científica de nuestra Institución.Conclusiones: se plantea que la actividad de los tutores, constituye un elemento clave para el logro del proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje en la educación en el trabajo, es el actor más importante en el sistema de influencias educativas que actúan en el proceso de formación de la personalidad profesional del Médico General Básico y que trasciende lo estrictamente académico, alcanzando la esfera personal y social del joven por lo que se constituye en un eslabón fundamental del proceso formativo.ABSTRACTObjective: to argue the importance of the pedagogical strategy for improving the performance of tutors in educationat work.Material and Methods: a qualitative research model was used, theoretical and empirical methods were used. In the theoretical investigations, the following were used: Documentary analysis: in the conformation of the theoretical frame of the investigation related to the pedagogical performance of the tutors in the education in the work of the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM). The Historical-Logical analysis, systematization, modeling, system approach.Results: it was possible to scientifically argue the importance of developing a pedagogical strategy proposal for improving the performance of tutors in education at work at the Latin American School of Medicine, contributing to improve the scientific production of our Institution.Conclusions: it is stated that the activity of tutors, is a key element for the achievement of the teaching-learning process in education at work, is the most important actor in the system of educational influences that act in the process of training the professional personality of the General Basic Physician and that transcends the strictly academic, reaching the personal and social sphere of the young person for what constitutes a fundamental link in the formativeprocess.

El Aula Virtual: su formación y necesidad para la Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina/The virtual classroom: its formation and necessity for the Latin American Medicine School El Aula Virtual: su formación y necesidad para la Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina/The virtual classroom: its formation and necessity for the Latin American Medicine SchoolObjetivos: describir el proceso de formación del Aula Virtual y su necesidad para la ELAM, en el período 2008-2017.Materiales y métodos: se realizó un estudio descriptivo longitudinal en el período 2008-2017. Se utilizaron diferentes métodos teóricos y empíricos para analizar la evolución del desarrollo del aula virtual y los elementos fundamentales de la misma en cuanto a los aspectos tecnológicos, pedagógicos, organizativos, y la comunicación. La plataforma Moodle (versiones 1.6 y 2.4), desde el servidor disponible en el Departamento de Informática Médica sirvió para el desarrollo del aula virtual.Resultados: el 82% de los estudiantes encuestados accedió al aula virtual, desde la plataforma Moodle en versión 2.4, para recuperar y crear materiales didácticos. El 48% presentó problemas de conectividad como dificultad tecnológica y el 52% accedió satisfactoriamente. El 94% estuvo motivado dentro del espacio del aula virtual. Al comparar con otros estudios realizados se identificó que existían similitudes en la necesidad de incorporar el aula virtual dentro delas nuevas tendencias educativas.Conclusiones: el proceso de formación del aula virtual de la ELAM fue paulatino, y sus resultados fueron satisfactorios. La investigación corroboró que es una necesidad para las instituciones médicas el desarrollo de la educación virtual en aras de perfeccionar el perfil del profesional de la salud que se forma.ABSTRACTObjective: to describe the formation process of Virtual Classroom and its necessity for ELAM in the 2008-2017 period.Materials and Methods: a longitudinal and descriptive study was carried out in 2008-2017 period. Different empiric and theoretical methods were used to analyze the evolution of virtual classroom development and its main elements associated with technological, pedagogical, organization and the communication elements.Results: the Moodle plateau (versions 1.6 y 2.4), from the server available in Informatics Medical Department served 82% quested students had access to the virtual classroom since Moodle plateau 2.4, to rescue and create didactical materials. The 48% had connection problems as a technological difficulty and the 52% acceded satisfactory. The 94% was motivated inside the area of virtual classroom. Comparing to other studies carried out were identified similarities in the necessity to incorporate the virtual classroom in the new educative tendencies.Conclusions: the process for formation of ELAM virtual classroom was slow and its results are satisfactory. The investigation confirms that it is a necessity for medical institutions the development of the virtual education to improve the profile of the health professional that is formed.

Métodos estadísticos empleados en las investigaciones epidemiológicas publicadas en algunas revistas médicas Métodos estadísticos empleados en las investigaciones epidemiológicas publicadas en algunas revistas médicasObjetivo: identificar los procedimientos estadísticos más utilizados en algunas revistas médicas.Materiales y Métodos: se realizó un estudio descriptivo retrospectivo. Se seleccionaron cuatro revistas médicas: Revista Cubana de Medicina Tropical, Revista Cubana de Higiene y Epidemiología, International Journal of Epidemiology, y la International Journal of Infectious Diseases. El universo incluyó todos los artículos originales publicados durante el período 2000-2015, con investigaciones epidemiológicas. Se excluyeron los artículos de revisión, las comunicaciones cortas, los reportes de casos, los artículos originales cuyo diseño respondía a la investigación básica, las investigaciones cualitativas y las revisiones sistemáticas. Las técnicas estadísticas se agruparon en niveles de complejidad del 1 al 4: estadística descriptiva, técnicas univariadas, técnicas multivariadas y técnicas más complejas.Resultados: los métodos estadísticos empleados evidenciaron predominio de las tablas bivariadas, seguido de la regresión logística (25,8%) Los estadísticos demoepidemiológicos se utilizaron en un 17,5%, lo que se correspondió en mayor medida con el uso de riesgo relativo, oportunidad relativa, sensibilidad y especificidad. La correlación lineal de Pearson y la prueba t de student, representaron alrededor del 8,0%. Los procedimientos menos utilizados se correspondieron con las pruebas delnivel 4, algunas no superaron incluso el 1,0 %.Conclusiones: se concluye que el perfil general de las técnicas estadísticas en las revistas cubanas seleccionadas tiene un carácter descriptivo predominante.ABSTRACTObjective: to identified the statistical procedures more used in some medical journals.Material and method: a descriptive retrospective study was carried out. Four journals were chosen: Cuban Journal of Tropical Medicine, Cuban Journal of Hygiene and Epidemiology, International Journal of Epidemiology and International Journal of Infectious Diseases. The universe included all the original articles publish during the period 2000-2015, with epidemiological investigations. The review articles were excluded, the short communications, the case reports, the original articles which design responded to basical investigation, the qualitative investigations and the systematical reviews. The statistical techniques were grouped in levels of intricacy between 1 and 4, descriptive statistics, univariuos techniques, multivarious techniques and multivarious techniques and more complicated techniques.Results: the statistical methods used evidenced predominance of the bivarious tables, follows of logistical regression (25,8%). The demoepidemiological statistics were used in 17,5%, which corresponded in major with the use of relative risk, relative opportunity, sensibility and specificity. The Pearson lineal correlation and test of the students, represented around of 8,0%. The procedures less used corresponded to the tests of level 4, some were not higher of 1,0 %.Conclusions: it is concluded that the general face of the statistical techniques in the Cuban journals chosen have a predominant descriptive character.
